An undeniable highlight of the Continental Divide Trail is the side trip through the Cirque of the Towers of the Wind River Range in Wyoming. This view was looking south from Jackass Pass to the imposing Warbonnet Peak and Arrowhead Lake below it. The sun was out and hiking over the undulating landscape of granite and grass came as a welcome relief from the desolation of the Great Divide Basin. There were birds and bugs, tiny tumbling brooks, alpine lakes and plenty of fellow adventurers hiking, climbing and fishing. I was reminded of the High Sierra of California and happy to be in the mountains again despite the relentless mosquitos and steep ups and downs.
