Hiking along the boarder of Idaho and Montana is where I most truly felt that I was on the continental divide, the actual ridge where water would flow on one side east to the Atlantic and the other side west to the Pacific. There were few trees to hide the undulating contours of the land or block the expansive views, just grasslands. Wind was a near constant companion, blowing in from the plains to the east and pushing clouds and storms quickly over the mountains.
