Cabezon Peak, New Mexico
$1,750.00
32" x 24" acrylic on handmade paper 2020
This painting is from the early stages of my thru hike of the Continental Divide Trail. About two thirds the way through New Mexico between Grants and Cuba. After traveling through the wet canyons of the Gila River and up and over a snowy Mt. Taylor the landscape opened up to vast mesas and plateaus, hoodoos and washes. This view was from a cliffs edge looking down across the Rio Puerco Valley to the solitary Cabezon Peak. The sun was descending and soon exploded into one of the most awe inspiring sun sets I've seen. I needed no tent, cooked a pot of Ramen and slept under the stars.
