“The Gila River. The winding oasis of New Mexico and one of the highlights of the Continental Divide Trail. This spot was one of my favorites of the section. The day was perfect: Breaking camp at the Gila hot springs, a tour of the Gila cliff dwellings, a decent down the slot canyon known as Little Bear Canyon and then the rest of the day hiking through the lush growth surrounding the river with towering cliffs all around.”
